Run-on pics

Starting with the most current pics...
Last night Mark and I attended a party
celebrating the marriage of a hygienist
who I work with twice/month.
It was held at a friend's home...right on Mission Bay.

Back to the Beach for an R to R
(Run to Remember)

This pic was taken with my phone inside the baggy
to protect it..kind of blurry. sorry.

I chased Ann all the way up the trail til
she paused and I was able to get a pic
She ran with me on the beautiful part...
up the steep hills and back and forth on the
scenic beach trails. Then she had to leave to
go clean the church..and what did I do??
Just kept running*
Took the phone out of the baggy
but I'm not real steady holding the phone,
taking the pic, all the while worrying about
my double chin and the like.
*This was such a great time for me...first LONNNG run for
quite awhile. I've been having breathing issues. whatev. I am totally slow
(slower than EVER) but I do love a two hour run...I realize it sounds
crazy but I just get in my zone and I LOVE it!*

On Memorial day Mark and the boys began a project...
I believe this will provide much entertainment
during the next several days/weeks/months.
It has not quite been a week and I can not believe the
size of the foliage bursting forth.
I will take pics periodically for
your amazement:)

R to R

Today I FINALLY can add on a "runs to remember" to my sidebar. It has been waaay too long since I have been to the beach for a scenic long run.  Thanks Ann for tagging along. It was a beautiful day!! Pics next time...

And here is a QOD:

Lack of activity destroys the good condition
of every human being,
while movement and methodical physical exercise
save it and preserve it.
- Plato

My "condition" can easily be tracked by the frequency of my runs to remember. I have committed for the REST OF MY LIFE to the American Heart Association's recommendation of 30 min of exercise 6 days/week.  You should all join me:)

Wha?? Some thoughts??

The other day at the end of the month (either this past or the one before that, I seriously lose track), I was writing away trying to get in my quota and what should appear on my caller ID but my dear friend, Carol's name. WOOT!! I had to take the call, of course!! And an hour later, I was uplifted (and a bit behind) and had promised Carol an email with some scripture thoughts attached.  You see, Carol and I used to share scripture thoughts...I love talking with Carol.  Tonight, as a break from the writing labors of the day I decided to finally make good on my email to Carol.

And here are my thoughts:

I was reading in Ether about the Jaredites and their journey.  In chapter 6:8 it reads:

"And it came to pass that the wind did never cease to blow towards the promised land while they were upon the waters; and thus they were driven forth before the wind."

This caught my attention on a couple of levels:

1.  I wondered if while they were in their airtight, artificially (kind of) lit vessel were they aware that the winds did "never cease to blow towards the promised land'? I hope they knew. I was thinking that I need to maintain faith that at times when my perspective on life may be as narrow as an airtight vessel, that the Lord will always be directing me towards my promised land.

2.  The times that I have been on a boat and the winds have come, I have become nervous and worried for my safety. But from this verse I can see that the wind may be the force that is needed to get me where I need to be.  Obstacles should not be seen as danger but as a means to an end.

In summary, the wind could represent the Lord's hand in our lives as well as our tribulations.

The two may be more related than I have ever thought before.

QOD and run-ons

“Healing may not be so much about getting better,
as about letting go of everything that isn’t you -
all of the expectations, all of the beliefs -
and becoming who you are.”
―Rachel Remen

Last week I attended the California Dental Association meetings in Anaheim. One of the seminars I attended was about health/nutrition and wellness.  And I heard the quote above...

I also...took the train one day so that I could work on my writing on the way and not be traffic-fettered by the time I reached the meetings. I was busy being productive when I looked up at the view...
It's a pretty sweet ride, if you ask me:)

I really enjoyed the meetings.  I think I get the continuing ed bug from my Dad. I love to see what's out there and staying up-to-date.  I have decided I want to work for the kind of office who shares my values.  I am back at interviewing...can't believe I haven't really found a "dental home" yet.  But I will keep looking...me and the other 1000s of hygienists out there. seriously..it's daunting.

On a very fun note...Sam's baseball team who had a not so great win/lose record all season...won their last season game..as in...Sam was the last up to bat in the extra innings to break the tie. The count was 2 strikes, 3 balls and he made contact and fouled twice...Mark and I were watching from the car cuz it was freezing..(like 62..we were in shorts, give me a break:)  I couldn't stand it...jumped out and ran towards the field right as I saw Sam take the base (AND WIN THE GAME)! Their next game they BLEW the other team out of the park at a whopping 19/10 victory. Here is Sam receiving recognition at the pizza party that followed...

Looks like we are headed into play offs...Fun!
